The USA women's Hockey team visited Te Mata Primary in Havelock North. They were treated to singing from the whole school and the Maori Culture group. In return they shared their Hockey skills with the pupils.

Authorities are continuing to closely monitoring river levels in Hawke's Bay. Heavy rain started over the past 24 hours, with Wairoa getting 63mm, Takapau Plains 52mm, Napier 44mm and Hastings 27mm. Up to 150mm more could be on its way for some coastal hill areas to the south of Cape Kidnappers and the ranges.

Napier conference centre opens.

The Napier Conference Centre is officially open following its multi-million-dollar redevelopment. Glasses of champagne were raised as Napier mayor Bill Dalton made the announcement in what he called Hawke's Bay's premier conference meeting centre. Mr Dalton went on to say the redeveloped facility was now one of the best in New Zealand.
