It's a November repeat for cyclist Jeremy Vennell and equestrian's Rebecca Goldsbury in Hawke's Bay's Sportsperson of the Month awards.
Vennell took out the senior section of the Sport Hawke's Bay-organised awards after finishing second to Hayden Roulston of Ashburton in the Tour of Southland. He was also selected in the New Zealand team for next month's Down Under Tour in Adelaide.
Last year Vennell won the same award after finishing fourth in the Tour of Southland.
Goldsbury won her second consecutive November junior award with her win in the children's class of the FEI world dressage challenge in which Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Korea were competing against New Zealand in Taupo.
Goldsbury scored 70 percent, as she did last year when winning the same event. Goldsbury also led New Zealand to victory in the teams section.
Bowls Heretaunga's composite fours ladies team captured the November senior team award after a convincing 20-7 win against their Taupo opponents in the final of their North Island tournament in Hastings.
Havelock North High School's Girls 1st XI cricket team secured the junior team award after qualifying for the New Zealand Community Trust Cup tournament with their first win against Palmerston North Girls' High School in eight years.
Hawke's Bay Rowing Club recorded the best club performance during November. At the Te Awamutu regatta on Lake Karapiro Hawke's Bay won the premier single scull, premier double scull, senior single scull, senior double scull, club coxed four and club titles and a second placing in the under-17 quadruple scull.
Golfer Jill Morgan took out the masters category after winning the stableford section of the New Zealand Masters ladies tournament in Auckland.
Off-road motorcycling's Jade Elstone was November's top administrator-manager. A behind-the-scenes toiler for her sport during the past 17 years, Elstone, was the main organiser of the International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) in Taupo which attracted 620 riders from 30 countries. She spent two days beforehand and six days during the event working as a volunteer.
Havelock North Tennis Club's secretary Bev Penny was November's top volunteer. She is managing the project which will result in four new courts for the club, runs Saturday and Sunday Fun Days for families, organised the club's annual awards dinner, runs the club's business house league, co-ordinates the club's 22 junior and nine senior interclub teams and produces the club's monthly newsletter.
All category winners become automatic nominees for the Telecom Gen-i Hawke's Bay Sports Awards function to be held on March 30 at Taradale's Pettigrew-Green Arena.
