Hawke's Bay golfer Andrew Henare produced a career best 10 under par round of 62 on the way to victory in the Jimmy Napier Classic ProAm in Martinborough on Tuesday.
Henare played little golf last year as he has been working in the mining industry in Australia. He thought he would enter a couple of tournaments while home on holiday before heading back to Australia.
He was surprised with Tuesday's victory.
"I would love to get back into golf and that is my goal but at present I have a young family and need a more reliable income," Henare said.
Henare shot nine birdies and one eagle.
