Hawke's Bay's only entrant in the national offshore powerboat racing series is on target to complete a possible record-setting season after another triumph in Auckland on Saturday.
It was the seventh Superboat Lite class win in seven races for Red Steel, raced by Napier panelbeating businessman Tony Carson, who will be aiming to make it a perfect record for the season when the postponed Tauranga race takes place on May 12.
"We're not sure, but no one can remember anyone ever winning eight races in a row in a class in one season before," Carson said.
While the opposition has been minimal in number, the 32ft catamaran's results have been based on reliability and being able to finish each race.
