Hawke's Bay's under-16 and under-14 representative badminton teams will tackle their respective North Island tournaments at Palmerston North next week.
The teams competition which begins on Sunday and ends on Thursday will involve 21 under-14 teams and 19 under-16 teams. Both teams will aim to improve last year's rankings said Badminton Hawke's Bay's development officer and co-coach of the under-14s, Kerri Tostevin.
"We would be very pleased with a position in the top eight for our under 14 team and would like to finish around position 10 or better in the under 16's.
"In the last couple of weeks the teams have been practicing twice a week in order to tune up some of their play and turn up the focus for the up and coming event," added Tostevin.
The finish of the teams competition on Thursday will see the start of the individual championships. Hawke's Bay's top under-14 boy and Central Region development team member, Alan Bosselmann is likely to feature in the individuals and the Bay's No.1 girl, Sarah Feck, should do well in the mixed doubles competition with Manawatu partner Sidarth Garde.
