Hawke's Bay's Jamie Curry, 18, has been nominated for the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in the Favourite Internet Sensation category.

Hawke's Bay's Jamie Curry, 18, has been nominated for the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in the Favourite Internet Sensation category.

Red carpet, television stars and Nick Jonas are all in Hawke's Bay teenager Jamie Curry's future.

The online starlet, who built a career poking fun at the trials and tribulations of adolescence, has been nominated as Favourite Internet Sensation in the Kids' Choice Awards, 2015.

Run by American network Nickelodeon, the award show draws international stars such as Nick Cannon, Liam Hemsworth, Iggy Azalea, Meghan Trainor, and will be hosted by Jonas this year.

"It's weird because I used to watch it as a kid, so to be nominated it's amazing and very flattering," she told Hawke's Bay Today.

It's the latest in a long line of achievements including collaborations with Jamie McDell, appearing in a music video for Kiwi artist Massad, and the chance to present a Tui at the New Zealand Music Awards.

She felt her biggest competition would be Troye Sivan, who has a tight-knit group of followers.

There are more developments in the pipeline too, but the Jamie's World star was keeping hush on those.

"I can't tell you anything but I can say that it's an exciting time ahead."

Now 18, Curry has amassed a huge following with more than a million subscribers on YouTube and more than 10 million fans on Facebook, something she hopes will be the basis of a successful acting career.

"In Year 9 or 10 we had to write goals, it was then I started writing that I wanted to be an actor, my teachers were like,"oh ... right". But my videos have given me a good platform to start from."

After leaving school last year Curry turned her attention to producing videos and interacting with her online community of fans.

While she was much more at home in front of the camera these days, not a lot has changed - except when she gets whisked away for meetings in Sydney or gets stopped in the street - it's then she has to pinch herself.
