Gunn set a new 10-year-old girls' 100m breaststroke mark, Lily Martin broke the 12-year-old girls' 400m freestyle and 400m individual medley records, Tom Brown the 9-year-old boys' 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke, Christian Falloon the 10-year-old boys' 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m breaststroke, and Cameron Gillespie the open men's 50m freestyle.
Tozer said it was particularly pleasing to see the results achieved by the 8 and 9-year-old swimmers who took part in at the meet: Eliana Brown, Olivia Smith, Rebecca Mortensen, Cullen Byrne and Tom Brown.
"These guys did an amazing job," Tozer said.
"I'm really impressed to see the quality of these young swimmers who have been squad training for such a short time."
The swimmers were also competing for the Rolle Cup (8-year-old girls), the Clough Cup (8-year-old boys) and the Keith Oliver Cups for 9-year-old boys and girls.
"In the 8 and 9-year-old girls events there was some really good competition and our girls did a fantastic job, with Eliana coming second in the 8-year-old girls' and Rebecca and Olivia second and third respectively in the Keith Oliver Cup," Tozer said.
"While we don't have any 8-year-old boys competing, our 9-year-old boys did a sterling job."
When a Dannevirke swimmer had to scratch from the meet after the first session because of ill health, it was left to Tom Brown to compete in the 9-year-old boys' Keith Oliver Cup event.
"He did an amazing job, coming away with the Keith Oliver Cup in his first ever competitive swim."
Dannevirke's Wai Splash pool offered superb learn-to-swim services, Tozer said, but at the moment the club itself had little or no squad training occurring at the facility.
"Swimmers representing the Dannevirke club come from Dannevirke and as far afield as Ashhurst, Greytown, Foxton Beach, Rongotea, and Masterton and the squads are based in Palmerston," she said.
"The hope is that we can attract a volunteer club coach to the Dannevirke pool for sessions in the town directed specifically to competitive swimming.
"We would love to hear from anyone who would like to become involved in Dannevirke."
