A woman battling life-threatening injuries after a fire in Hastings last weekend has died.

The 30-year-old woman had been in a critical condition following the residential fire in Kauri Place, Mahora, since last Sunday but died in the Hawke's Bay Hospital this morning.

A police spokesperson said the cause of the fire was not considered suspicious and her death had been referred to the Coroner.

Police were investigating the fire last week after the woman was pulled from the house with life-threatening injures.

The fire was thought to have started sometime between 3.30am and 6am Sunday.

The fire started in a bedroom and was able to be confined to that room, however other parts of the house were smoke and fire damaged.

The woman's death shortly follows the death of 10-year-old Ariki River Baden Mau who was rushed to hospital on Monday afternoon after being involved in a suspicious fire in a derelict building on Heretaunga St West.

He died early the following morning and the 9-year-old boy also taken to hospital in a serious condition is now in a stable condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital.
