If the wind has been blowing you away, you're in for some luck.

The wind is set to drop in the next few days. MetService meteorologist Peter Little says the wind we have been experiencing is coming to an end.

"The wind will start to ease within the next couple of days."

However, with the bulk of the wind going away, we are still not out of the woods, according to the meteorologist.

"It looks like [we'll still get] westerlies, which means it will be pretty dry," Mr Little said.

One of the region's driest Junes on record had mainly been the result of these westerlies, he said.

Rainfall was also down - almost half of that at the same time last year.

However, although the Bay has had small amounts of rainfall, the forecaster said some more was expected to come through soon enough.

"On Friday, rain will start developing in the ranges," Mr Little said. "On Saturday you could be in for some rain but it should clear by Sunday.

"Eastern regions will receive small amounts of rain."

July to September rainfall was likely to be below normal nationwide.
