Last week's wild weather wreaked havoc for many Hawke's Bay birds with nests blown out of trees and adult birds buffeted by strong seas.
Hawke's Bay Bird and Wildlife Rescue has been inundated with baby sparrows, wax-eyes, pigeons, adult seagulls, blackbirds and penguins following last week's adverse weather.
Founder Liv Flynn said she was looking after more than 20 birds, most of which had come in over the past few days due to the weather.
"We're extremely busy at this time of year, the windy weather doesn't help.
"A lot of the seagulls get blown by the wind and get so disorientated and exhausted."
