Time erodes Floral Clock
On my many visits to Napier over the past few years, I usually visit your beautiful Marine Parade. I have taken photos, especially of Pania and the Floral Clock.
On comparing past photos of the Floral Clock, I have noticed over the years it has lost its lustre - to say the least.
It will be visited by many tourists I'm sure, and many photos will be taken. Such a pity to have it the way it is at the moment.
I have been back recently and have taken photos and published them on Facebook. Several friends, also ex-Napier girls, have been disappointed also and have aired these same thoughts to me.
I'm afraid there is no comparison to what the clock was in the past to what we are seeing today. Perhaps the council gardeners need to be a bit more inventive or look at past photos of the Floral Clock for ideas.
I have also contacted the Napier City Council, asking for them to give the poor old Floral Clock some TLC and restore it to its past glory.Doreen RobsonPerth, WAScooter warningTo all you riders of 50cc scooters out there: Please, when passing cyclists give us a margin of 1.5m as most cars do. It is hard to hear you coming up behind us in busy traffic. I have noticed that most of you hug the cycle lane, as of course you are slower than cars in a 70km/h area.
All it needs is for a cyclist to make a sudden move, usually to avoid glass or rubbish, and you would never be able to avoid us in time.
As a cyclist who has been hit by a scooter, I know who comes off second best.
Thank you in anticipation.J
