The rain about the ranges will be due to temperatures in the afternoon heating the air and causing convection, Ms Murray said.
"It's that time of year when temperatures are a bit warmer."
Highs will be about 17-19C over the weekend and into next week with overnight lows of 6-8C.
"It's really quite stagnant temperature-wise."
Tomorrow will be similar with high cloud to start off with and a few periods of rain from late morning into the afternoon.
"There will also be a northwesterly which will be quite fresh in exposed places," she said.
"It will be quite warm but we will be seeing some cloud and showers."
The weekend's weather will be welcome news for children with the end of term 3 yesterday.
It will also be good for people partaking in the new fishing season with Hawke's Bay Fish & Game stating on Facebook that staff had been removing closed water signs throughout the region yesterday in preparation for the start of the new fishing season tomorrow. "Staff reported that many of the region's rivers and streams looked in good condition at this stage for fishing.
"Hopefully the rain that is forecast holds off until at least Sunday."
Rangers will be out checking fishing licences this weekend across the Hawke's Bay region and so people needed make sure they had purchased a new season fishing licence before heading out to fish tomorrow, the post said.
Ms Murray said Monday will begin to dry up with winds possibly becoming strong turning to southwest, however, this will not affect temperatures.
Winds will ease off once the low moves away later in the day and Tuesday is expected to be fine.
