"They should be sort of clearing as the day goes on, just those southerlies mean the cloud will stick around."
She said Wednesday would be similar again, a few showers along with a few fine spells.
Thursday would also be showery, but Clark said Hawke's Bay should see an improving trend as the southerlies start heading off.
She said the most noticeable thing will be the drop in temperatures, especially heading into Tuesday.
In terms of temperatures, Monday will be warm, with a high of 26C in both Napier and Hastings, but then the temperatures will start to cool.
She said there will be a high of 22C on Tuesday, and Wednesday would be cooler still, at just 18C.
Overnight temperatures are expected to drop as well, from 18C on Sunday night, down to 14C on Monday night, and just 12C on Tuesday night heading into Wednesday.
Compared with the rest of the country, Hawke's Bay is looking like a good place to be, Clark said. The West Coast, especially on the South Island, will likely be wetter than the East Coast.
"Since you guys are on the East Coast you won't get the worst of that rain ahead of that front, you are quite showery behind it, so southerlies you are exposed to that.
"But it's just a few showers, so generally you get off pretty easy.
"So it's the usual, dry in the east and wet in the west."
