The new man appointed to steer the region's primary health organisation says he expect to improve public access to GPs, and a closer relationship with the Hawke's Bay District Health Board.
Primary health organisation Health Hawke's Bay has announced the appointment of general manager Wayne Woolrich to the post of chief executive with immediate effect.
Speaking to Hawke's Bay Today Woolrich said he expected the organisation, which manages a $40 million government-funded budget, would to play a key leadership role to ensure better delivery primary healthcare.
"That needs to be with a big focus on our Maori, Pacific and higher-needs community."
He would also be focused on building relationships with the DHB, primary and community health providers, and the wider public.
