“Weather-wise, we are looking at fine conditions for most of the day.”
Makgabutlane said by the afternoon, the amount of cloud would increase and inland rain showers should be expected.
Saturday is forecast to be the hottest day, with Hastings set to reach a high of 28C and Napier 27C.
“As the day goes on, we are anticipating cloud starting to increase.”
Makgabutlane said by the evening, some showers could be expected. However, temperatures would remain in the high teens overnight, with Napier expected to have a high of 19C and Hastings 16C.
“Those nighttime hours won’t have much of an opportunity to get rid of the warm air from the day.”
Sunday in Hastings would reach a high of 27C and Napier 26C.
“It is looking like a cloudy day, with some rain moving through as the weather system crosses the island.”
She said rain around the coast was not expected to last long, but inland rain could be around for longer.
“For this time of year, this type of weather system is more typical of what we would expect to see, compared to what we saw over the last few weeks.”
Looking into next week, Makgabutlane said there would be a brief switch to a southwesterly at the beginning, dropping temperatures into the low 20s, which would later give way to westerly winds and temperatures would rise again.
