The face of Napier Hill is changing as contractors Demolition 1 reduce the city's former hospital to a looming skeleton.
The site's new owners, the Todd Property Group, had previously said the demolition would be finished this month. It remains to be seen if the work was running to schedule. The Group bought the prime plot to erect two high-rise building, which will house 36 high-class apartments, a cafe and gymnasium for residents.
Earlier reports stated that Demolition 1, have been using a 68-tonne long-reach excavator as its main "bring-it-down" tool and was removing the blockwork and framework piece by piece from the top down.
Todd Property managing director Evan Davies said earlier this year the company was committed to building a high-quality residential property, in keeping with the area.
