Craig Little, newly-elected mayor, Wairoa District Council

Wairoa mayor Craig Little has been confirmed for a second term with a majority of 743 votes over his nearest challenger and support of more than 58 per cent of district voters in the local body elections.

The declaration of the final result yesterday also confirmed the return of all five councillors who sought re-election, along with the election of new councillor Charles Lambert, of Mohaka.

It also confirmed the result of a poll in favour of Maori wards on the six-member council for the terms starting 2019 and 2022.

The declaration was the last released for councils in the Hawke's Bay area.
