Three people injured in yesterday's shearing gang van crash in Central Hawke's Bay have been discharged from hospital today.
But five remain, including two in critical condition - a man aged in the 50s and a teenaged girl.
A man in his 20s, a male teenager and a female teenager were all in stable condition, the Hawke's Bay District Health Board reported.
The crash happened when a van belonging to Waipukurau shearing operation The Shearing Company, run by well known contractor Neil Waihape, rolled several times just east of Wanstead on Porangahau, while returning to Waipukurau from a day's work near Porangahau.
Helicopters from Hastings and Palmerston North were involved in taking the injured to Hawke's Bay Hospital, and a third helicopter from Wellington was used to transport a woman cyclist injured in an unrelated collision with a car near Waipukurau about an hour after the van crash.
