Firefighters responded to two large grassfires in Fernhill over the weekend.
Three firetrucks responded to a grass fire measuring about 150 metres long on a hill off Swamp Rd on Sunday about midday.
One firetruck and two tankers from Hastings were sent out about 11.30am, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesperson said.
It was the second fire in the area in as many days, with crews battling for two hours on Saturday afternoon to extinguish a separate blaze.
Four crews worked to extinguish the fire, which had spread into a shelterbelt and advanced to within 10 metres of a house.
