Both lanes of State Highway 2 south of Clive were closed for about 45 minutes yesterday, after two cars collided head-on.
Police Sergeant Paul Ormerod said a vehicle crossed the centre line south of Clive River Bridge at about 3.45pm and collided head-on with a southbound car.
The two women from the car that crossed the centre line, aged 49 and 20, were taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital with minor injuries, while the five occupants of the other car were uninjured. A hospital spokesman said the 49-year-old was in a stable condition last night, while the 20-year-old had been discharged.
