Two Hawke's Bay MP have been announced as ministers of the Crown in Labour's Government.
Yesterday, Prime Minister elect Jacinda Ardern announced the list of Labour ministers chosen by Caucus to serve in the new government's executive which includes Napier MP Stuart Nash (in Cabinet) and Ikaroa-Rawhiti MP Meka Whaitiri (outside Cabinet).
Mr Nash, who is currently Labour spokesperson for police, forestry and economic development (including regional development), said becoming a Cabinet minister will not take away from his duties as Napier MP.
"The bottom line is I'm still MP for Napier and the work and commitment to the people of Napier won't change."
When asked what portfolio he hoped to be given next week, Mr Nash said he did not have a preference.
