A three-way merger is being considered by three Hastings clubs in the latest rationalisation proposed among struggling historic chartered organisations in Hawke's Bay.
Linked in the latest amalgamation talks are the Hastings RSA, the Heretaunga Club and Kia Toa Bowling Club.
The Heretaunga Club at the weekend advertised an extraordinary meeting to be held next Sunday, to vote on a resolution to amalgamate if the other clubs agree and with the "new club" being based at its complex in Victoria St, Hastings.
Last year, another Hastings club, the Hibernian, decided on the sale of its site and a merger with the RSA, and the previous year there was a similar merger in Napier with the city's Cosmopolitan Club in a merger with the Taradale Club.
The Heretaunga members will be asked to "ratify and confirm" its committee's entry into a Heads of Agreement with the RSA. A merger would leave just two chartered clubs remaining in inner Hastings - the new entity and the National Service Club in Market St.
