*   Opening ceremony What an awesome opening fantastic! Let's embrace this and enjoy it. Go ABs.

*   Opening ceremony was okay but too many hakas.

Cellphone tower

*   NCC spends $3m to beautify Taradale, then allows ugly imposing cellphone tower to go up. What a waste. CJ

I*   'm disgusted with 2degrees and their horrible tower in Taradale CBD. Who are the idiots who allowed cellphone towers to be built anywhere. Doesn't the public have a say on anything in this country anymore. Same old same old. EJ

Running of the lambs

*   Re the running of the lambs. Why try to stop it? The sheep being used aren't young lambs as the name makes it sound. Sheep get moved around farms all the time. Let Waipukurau's running of the lambs go ahead. PD

*   So it is okay and fun to run lambs. Well let's run a bunch of toddlers for fun. At least the parents can tell their toddlers it's only fun. The sheep don't know, they'll be terrified. What is wrong with everyone? SPCA, where the hell are you on this? Look after our lovely animals. If you don't, no more donations from me! Bev

Other thoughts

*   Shame on the person who stole my ABs flag off my little red car on Wednesday aftrnoon. I'd only had it 24 hours! Buy your own next time! Ngai.

*   Our Spirit of Napier-Golden Girl Is no one person. She represents the spirit of all Napier people when they rose up and rebuilt our "golden" city after the 1931 earthquake. Go look into our Art Deco heritage SJ, you may be spiritually enlightened. RJ Lyon

*   Anyone else getting late night visits from Jehova's Witnesses? I had 2 come round after 8 on Monday night. Bit freaky for a woman living alone to find 2 men at the door in the dark!

*   Agree with sentiments of Roger Moroney re Happy Feet. Marineland closed by green extreme NCC councillors who knew how great it was but still weren't prepared to fight for it and give it a revamp. SE

*   Do people still go to HB races with their million dollar races and 10 dollar facilities? Mugs!

*   Anyone else trying to get an insurance letter from Jetstar after they cancelled flights in June due to ashcloud? Have called 6 times and still I wait. Jetstar is great... yeah right!

*   Right behind you Pete Carver re Genesis sell-off!

*   Have given up buying KFC. The pieces are small but they charge full price. Come on KFC, good value size pieces are required. JB

*   The sooner we make New Zealand smoke-free the better. Nothing worse than going into shops, TAB etc and getting a face full of smoke. Yuk.

*   Really agree with George Williams. Cabbage trees are more messy than olive trees. Don't do it.

*   Drivers never need to pass cyclists on narrow bridges. Cyclists take less than a minute to cross a bridge so be patient and wait! Susan

*   Barbara Cantwell, re price at the dump: $85 for me. That was family grocery money. Never again. Next time will have to go for a drive to find somewhere else to dump grass clippings. I notice council never acknowledge any letters, txts etc about this issue when they appear in the paper. JM

*   Margaret Mutu should be sacked. She is a disgrace to New Zealand. We have had it with Hone Harewira and his mother and now this woman. Quite frankly the worst example for a university in New Zealand.

*   Why can't Hastings be the same as Wanganui as far as gang patches are concerned? Last week, 8 mobsters were standing on the corner by the clock tower, intimidating all pedestrians, making everyone cross the road to avoid them. Absolutely disgusting. JHW

*   How concerning was the story about schools in HB that could fall down in a earthquake. My kids go to Flaxmere College. l hear the library isn't going to get fixed. What happens in a quake? ls that just too bad for the brown kids? Answers please.

*   Employee of the year! Jenny at the Warehouse. So wonderful with my elderly dad as he fumbled with his purchases. Thankyou.

*   The petrol stations need to keep checking their toilets, like hourly. The state people leave them in is disgusting.

*   If the people of Napier were given the hospital site land, how come we aren't getting a lease payment or a cheque in the mail for our respective share of the sale minus the buildings? It was given to the people of Napier so we must have held the title.
