A week of fine, hot weather is likely to see Hawke's Bay residents dashing for the nearest pool this week, with daytime highs up to 26C.
MetService meteorologist Hannah Moes said today would be fine in the morning, although showers were expected about the ranges in the afternoon and evening.
The region would then see a "continuing trend" of mostly fine weather for the rest of the week.
There was, however, a chance of strong and gusty westerlies tomorrow.
There would be some respite from wild winds today after severe gales gusting up to 100km/h hammered the region last week, sparking vegetation fires and felling power poles.
