The closure of State Highway 3 through the Manawatu Gorge may be hitting many Woodville businesses hard, but the latest Paymark figures indicate that spending isn't being lost to the Tararua District.
The latest Paymark figures received by the Tararua District Council show $924,186 was spent on the Paymark network in Woodville in June, down 4.7 per cent on June 2016.
However, in the same period, Dannevirke was up 11 per cent to $6.5 million, Eketahuna was up 30 per cent to $208,000 and Pahiatua's spending rose 8 per cent to $2.3 million.
What do these numbers mean for the district?
