A Dannevirke Swimming Club team of 45 competed in the spring swim meet in the AMP Wai Splash complex.
With the ages of the team members ranging from just 4 to 27, there was fabulous support on Sunday from parents and families spread from Dannevirke, Palmerston North to Masterton.
"It was a great co-operative effort," coach and swimming club president Lin Tozer said.
"Unfortunately there weren't many Dannevirke swimmers in the team, so we'd love someone to coach swimmers here.
"This would help grow local participation and I'd be happy to teach them what they need to know."
Swimmers from Breakers, Swimzone, Raumati, Masterton, Carterton (all Wellington clubs), Ice Breakers, Kiwi West, PNASC, Levin, Dannevirke (Manawatu clubs) and Central Hawke's Bay, Napier Aquahawks, Greendale and Trojans (Hawke's Bay/Poverty Bay clubs) were involved.
With so many teams competing, the Dannevirke 4x50 metre freestyle relay team of Finn Lyon, Brandon Gillespie, Cameron Gillespie and Fernando Castellanos were thrilled to win the Marie Nelson Memorial Trophy.
"The Dannevirke club did very well," Tozer said.
