The sun is expected to shine for Waitangi day celebrations - the best forecast in a week bringing a "mixed bag" of weather.
MetService meteorologist James Millward said Waitangi Day was expected to have the best weather all week, thanks to a ridge building over the whole country.
A fine day was expected, broken with gusty westerlies at first and a few late showers with a southwest change. The high of 27C meant Hawke's Bay was "pretty much going to be warmest part of the country ".
This will be enjoyed by those attending the family fun events around Hawke's Bay to celebrate Waitangi Day.
Waitangi Family Festival organising committee spokesperson Marie Edwards spent the weekend preparing for the annual event at Clive's Farndon Park, which she would offer something for everyone.
