The final annual Staples Rodway Challenge was filled with mud, sweat and even a few tears on Saturday.
Nearly 900 people took part in the gruelling 32km Cape Kidnappers course across private land to raise money for Out and About with Kids in Hawke's Bay, who gather merino wraps, hats and booties for babies born into hardship.
A total of $16,000 was raised from the race which was presented to the charity during the event's prize-giving at Clifton Cafe on Saturday afternoon.
The challenge, which is in its ninth year of fundraising for different charities, has come to an end.
Staples Rodway director Libby O'Sullivan said the accounting firm initially organised the event to give back to the community, encourage health and fitness and show people the beauty of Hawke's Bay.
