Dannevirke's Stevee Taylor has gone from reviewing movies for the Dannevirke News to studying at the Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki in Finland.
In 2013 Stevee was head girl at Dannevirke High School before leaving to undertake a degree at the University of Canterbury, originally intending to study English.
Realising media and communication was more her style she changed direction, winning a scholarship to study in Finland after working hard and achieving top grades.
"I have been living in Helsinki, Finland since late August, attending the Swedish School of Social Science, which is a part of the University of Helsinki which teaches classes in Swedish," she said. "Luckily my classes were in English.
"I took a module on foreign reporting, where I was taught how to do journalism in foreign places by internationally renowned journalists. The course was really intensive. One of the highlights of the course was going on a trip to the small Baltic country of Estonia (only a two-hour ferry ride from Helsinki) to do a journalistic piece.
