Budding businesspeople and enthusiastic entrepreneurs looked to dazzle dragons with their innovative inventions in the heat of the den last night.

The Young Enterprise Scheme culminated in the "Dragon's Den" finals at the Hawke's Bay Business Hub in Ahuriri.

"It was a fantastic event - students, mums, dads, teachers, mentors, regional sponsors and national sponsors made for a great turnout," Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce business support manager Kris McAinsh said.

There were six teams competing from Havelock North High School, Iona College and Karamu High School. Three special guests were in attendance, playing the "Dragons": Mogul managing director Georgina Miller, Hastings District Council investment and growth projects manager Craig Cameron and David Trim & Associates director David Trim each came with $500 in their pockets, looking to invest in the next game-changing innovation.
