Greenmeadows 4 Square is closed after an aggravated robbery in which a staff member was injured.

Greenmeadows 4 Square is closed after an aggravated robbery in which a staff member was injured.

A Napier store has been robbed today and a staff member injured.

Police say a man entered the Gloucester St 4 Square in Napier at approximately 1.30pm with a weapon.

He took cash and cigarettes and smashed glass, which caused minor injuries to a staff member.

Police said the alleged offender was wearing a red-coloured hoodie.

A dog unit was called in but was unable to track the offender due to heavy foot traffic in the area.

The store, on the corner of Gloucester St and Guppy Rd, was subsequently closed.

A staff member said the man was brandishing a hammer.

A police investigation is underway and anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the alleged offender fleeing the scene or has further information is asked to contact Napier Police Station as soon as possible.

Hawke's Bay Police can be contacted on 06 831 0700 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 for anonymous information.
