More than $1000 has been raised on Givealittle so far in support of sporting stalwart Angela Nilsson-Findlay, who is battling cancer.
The Findlay Family Benefit Match at 2.30pm tomorrow at Park Island, Napier, will also see a Hawke's Bay team take on a New Zealand invitational team, including junior, current and former Black Sticks players, to raise money for Ms Nilsson-Findlay and her family.
The PE teacher at Taradale High School is involved with managing and coaching school, representative and academy hockey programmes as well as volunteering across other sporting codes. She is battling cancer, secondary to breast cancer diagnosed in 2012.
Her netball teammate of 10 years, Mel Davis, said she was "a living legend".
Entry to the Findlay Family Benefit Match is by gold-coin donation and spectators are asked to wear pink in support.
A Givealittle page set up for the family has also raised more than $1000. To donate to the Findlay family's Givealittle page, go to: givealittle.co.nz/cause/findlayfamilybenefit-
