Pink tablecloths, flowers and wall hangings decorated Hawke's Bay Today's lunch room yesterday, as staff wearing pink attire began their work day by supporting a good cause.
More than $300 was raised for the Cancer Society from yesterday's Pink Ribbon Breakfast, held as part of Pink Ribbon month.
For a donation of $5, staff enjoyed a lavish breakfast provided by NZME. Central Region NZME general manager Russell Broughton, who helmed the barbecue yesterday, said it was tremendous to see so many staff working to help raise money for a fantastic cause.
It had been wonderful to arrive yesterday morning and see the lunch room all pink, and so much work being done by the team, he said.
"The money raised was really great but I was just so pleased to see so many of our team coming in early for a good cause," he said. All proceeds from yesterday's event went to the Cancer Society, including funds raised from the sale of badges, key rings and pens at the breakfast.
