Rural crime is to be the focus of a series of community get-togethers in country halls throughout Hawke's Bay.
The events have been arranged by police and are intended to give local residents the opportunity to discuss any crime issues they have, including crime patterns and prevention measures the community could consider.
A police-branded tractor will also be on display at each event. The tractor has been used at numerous public events around the country and has attracted much attention, especially from the rural community. It has become a symbol of rural crime prevention and is also popular with children.
Those attending the meetings include community constables, councillors and representatives from Community Patrols and Neighbourhood Support.
Hawke's Bay prevention manager Inspector Andy Sloan said the get-togethers were a great chance for locals to discuss their concerns about crime in their area.
