There are a number of concerning things about these pages, the first being that some of the acts described on there are clearly criminal. People bragging about how they have broken the law should be tracked down and questioned.
The police have told us that they are monitoring the page to see if any crimes have been committed. They say they are able to track down the offenders if need be.
That is good to know and the police should err on the side of caution and satisfy themselves that no crime has been committed.
The other main concern I have about the pages has to do with the state of sectors of our society. This is not a good reflection of our social fabric if some of the comments are anything to go by.
I thought one of my colleagues put it rather well by asking: Is the Facebook wall the new toilet wall?
Has our need for public recognition become so great that we would resort to putting revolting confessions on the internet? I think it has.
Part of the problem is that modern society seems to encourage outrageous behaviour.
But at some point these people have to ask themselves what they have to gain from doing this. It shows an extreme lack of self respect and a lack of respect for others.
Imagine if in 1000 years time generations to come stumble across one of these pages and use it as an example of life in our times.
Not a very good look, is it?
