Motorists have a two hour window to use state highway 2.

The road between Napier and Wairoa has been closed following a spate of slips due to heavy rain.

The road has been temporarily opened between 3pm and 5pm.

Motorists are urged to delay non-essential travel and take alternative routes if possible.

State Highway 5 between Napier and Taupo is reopen.

SH56 in Manawatu is closed but SH57 is available as an alternative route.

Motorists are asked to postpone their travel if their journeys depended on these routes. The Transport Agency thanks the public for their patience and understanding.

Crews are out in force to clear slips and reopen roads as soon as it is safe to do so.
