2: Taniwha Daffodils
The Taniwha Daffodil Display is a feature of Spring in Central Hawke's Bay. Open every day of September between 8am-5pm, simply drive through the gates, collect a bucket and then wander the 20 acres of trees, ponds and of course daffodils. It's a great day for kids, families and groups.
Pick bunches of 30 stems for $5 with proceeds going to Plunket, or pick up a pre-picked bunch for $10 - all bunches are wrapped in cellophane and tied with a ribbon.
Eftpos is available and the Taniwha Coffee Shed is open 9.30-12.30 weekdays and until 4pm weekends. Picnics welcome, groups of 10 or more please book.
Warm clothing and waterproof footwear is advisable - it is Spring!

3: High Tea & History
Experience more than 166 years of history at Oruawharo Homestead & Gardens. Across the weekend experience a sumptuous high tea with a delicious selection of treats accompanied by your choice of Oruawharo's own extensive tea and coffee collection.
You can choose whether you'd like to take high tea inside the homestead itself, or upon the beautifully ornate veranda so you are able to take in the wonderful vista of the grounds and St Vincent's Chapel.
Alongside this classic high tea, visitors will be treated to a history of the house including some fascinating and little-known World War I tales as well as taking the chance to explore the historic homestead and all of its antique and art collections at your leisure.
You are also invited to rediscover St Vincent's Chapel. The church, originally located in the township of Takapau, has been carefully moved and restored with incredible finesse and placed upon its new foundations within the Homestead's grounds.

5: Bostock New Zealand Spring Carnival 2017
Tarzino Trophy featuring Daffodil Day
After raising $70,000 over the last three years, Hawke's Bay Racing are again teaming up with Hawke's Bay Cancer Society to support Daffodil Day.
All of the gate donation fees, along with proceeds from a charity auction, and other generous parties, will support this great charity that's touched the lives of many families in Hawke's Bay.
The Tarzino Trophy Race Day launches Group 1 racing for the season, bringing the big guns of New Zealand racing to Hastings to battle at one of the country's stellar racing events.
Between the races promises plenty of action with The Hits free family zone with children's entertainment, live music, and a food precinct offering Hawke's Bay's finest outdoor catering offerings.
Get on-course for a great family day out and support a fantastic cause.

6: Maori Music Month Celebration Concert
The second annual Te Marama Puoro Waiata Maori (Maori Music Month) will be capped off this weekend by a special celebration concert in Napier.
Maori Music Month is run by the Waiata Maori Awards for the month of August, to celebrate Maori Music.
The celebration concert takes place on Saturday from 11am at the Century Theatre in Napier and includes performances by:
Te Kura Kaupapa o Te Wananga Whare Tapere o Takitimu (Te Wananga Whare Tapere o Takitimu Performing Arts School)
Taikura Ki Ngati Kahungunu
Singer-songwriter Amba Holly (Waiata Maori Music Award 2016 Winner for Best Female Solo Artist)
Kahurangi Maori Dance Theatre of New Zealand (a world class Maori Dance Company that takes Maori Arts to the global stage)

7: Spring Open Day
Join the Napier Aquatic Centre for a fun day for the start of spring.
Find out about the Aquatic Centre's Expansion project and the three concept designs. This is your chance to have your say during the consultation process so make sure you get down the Spring Open Day.
