A magnitude 3.8 earthquake near Hastings early this morning was felt by people in Hawke's Bay, according to GNS Science.
The quake struck at 1:22 am and was located 30 km south-west of Hastings at a depth of 30 km.
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck in the same location at about the same time earlier in the week.
