An early morning crash north of Clive yesterday resulted in 10 Karamu High School students and a teacher being sent to Hawke's Bay hospital after the mini-van they were travelling in flipped.
State Highway 2 between Waitangi bridge and Hellyers Lane was blocked after emergency services arrived at the scene at about 9am yesterday.
Police said the van carrying 12 students was involved in a collision with another vehicle, causing the van to flip on its side and slide across the road.
A vehicle travelling in the opposite direction took steps to avoid a crash.
A hospital spokesperson said that 10 students and a teacher were brought in with minor injuries and were all assessed and discharged not long after.
