Two tertiary students hailing from the Hawke's Bay region have been granted Prime Minister's Scholarships for Asia.
Frederick King and Tim Kevern both successfully applied for the scholarship that is designed to encourage New Zealand students to study in Asian countries and experience the benefits of international education.
Mr Kevern, 21 years-old, in currently studying civil engineering at the University of Canterbury and will complete the first semester of his fourth and final year at the University of Hong Kong this year.
An aspiring transport engineer, Mr Kevern said he was excited to experience a new culture.
"I think it will be good because I am really interested in transport so seeing how they do things like urban layout in Hong Kong will be interesting," he said.
