New Zealand Olympic Games team chef de mission Rob Waddell will be the guest speaker at a Hastings Rugby and Sports fundraising function on July 15.
An Olympic Games gold medallist during his rowing days, Waddell will combine the Hawke's Bay Racecourse Cheval Room function with a family holiday in the Bay before heading to the Rio Olympics.
"We are really privileged to get Rob so close to the Olympics," Hastings club stalwart Mark Sowman said.
Hastings Boys' High School's world record holder on the ergometer, Izzac Andrews, will introduce Waddell.
There will also be a presentation from Sir Graeme Avery on his plans for the AUT Millennium Hawke's Bay development at the Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park in Hastings.
