It was just like a parent-teacher interview as Hastings Boys' High School 1st XV rugby coach Jack Wiggins summarised his team's effort on Saturday.
"Ok, in patches, but not consistent enough. We had a good first half but went to sleep for 20 minutes in the second and by the time we made a strong comeback it was too late," Wiggins said after his team's 26-5 Super 8 loss to Rotorua Boys in Hastings.
Fullback Danny Toala scored the hosts' try. Locks Liam Bauckham and Viliami Kaipoli Afu provided plenty of grunt in the Hastings engine room while openside flanker Fale Matamata was again a menace at the breakdown.
Wiggins troops trailed 10-5 at halftime.
Napier Boys' High were walloped 43-3 by Hamilton Boys' High in their televised encounter in Napier.
