Hastings Boys' High School will take on Wellington College in Saturday's Hurricanes region secondary schools rugby final in Palmerston North.

Super 8 champions Hastings walloped St Pats Town of Wellington 57-3 in their Hastings-hosted semifinal on Saturday.

In their 16th consecutive win from as many matches this season Hastings ran in nine tries.

Tighthead prop Aleki Vuki was a prominent figure in the host team's superior scrum. Halfback Folau Fakatava was again classy while second five-eighth Liam Udy-Johns and wing Dennon Robinson were others to impress in the winning backline.

Robinson scored two tries. Loosie Donovan Mataira, first five-eighth Lincoln McClutchie, winger Trent Hape, Fakatava, fullback Danny Toala, hooker Jacob Devery and substitute back Reno Jardine scored one each.

Toala kicked six conversions. Should Hastings win Saturday's match they will qualify for the national top four competition.

Wellington College beat Napier Boys' High School 39-31 in their semifinal after leading 25-19 at halftime.

Winger Daniel Sharplin, a year 12 student making his 1st XV debut, scored two tries for Napier. Hookers Louis Coombe-Gray and Patrick Teddy and centre Mitch Drew scored the others. Drew kicked two conversions and first five-eighth Zarn Sullivan one.

Drew and Sharplin were the best of the Napier backs and tighthead prop Cameron Huata and openside flanker Jack Vaimoli shone in the pack.
