Top marks for professionalism in the countdown to the Hawke's Bay Saracens rugby match against Waikato in Taupo today go to halfback Zac Donaldson.
Donaldson could have been a little surly after being forced to miss his Napier Old Boys Marist club team's Maddison Trophy final against Clive at Napier's McLean Park. But Donaldson, 20, instead looked at the bigger picture and re-visited the major reason he moved north from Wellington during the 2015-16 summer ... to eventually crack a spot in the Magpies Mitre 10 Cup squad.
"I've got a bloody big opportunity and I can't be angry with that. I played in last year's final and was thrilled to have the first 65 minutes."
He admitted he has benefited from playing behind a dominant pack this season and is confident the bloke who has replaced him in the NOBM team, promoted colts player Liam Batt, will do the job.
"Liam has had a taste of premier play before. He will be able to do it."
