The fact it was Iosua's first game back after a three-week spell with a hamstring injury added to the significance of the feat. It was only his third game in the Bay.
However Iosua's rugby CV suggests he is more than capable of making an impact in the Bay for the Flaxmere-based club which is on a quest to avoid the promotion-relegation game.
He has played since he was 7 in his home village of Ulutogia on the island of Upolu and played for Samoa A in the 2015 Pacific Challenge in Fiji.
"The Samoa A team is for island-based players who don't have overseas contracts. I'm hoping by chasing overseas contracts I might make the Manu Samoa team in the future like Miga," he said, referring to MAC teammate and 2016 Magpie Fa'alemiga Selesele who played for Manu Samoa against the All Blacks last month.
In the Bay on a working holiday for the remainder of the season, Iosua, works as a rugby development officer for the MAC club.
In addition to coaching youngsters he also helps setting up the grounds and tidying up of the sheds.
"It's a good way to meet everybody," he said.
Like his host and former Samoan Sevens rep Tom Iosefo and MAC captain Vai Kereti, Iosua, has also played league for Samoa.
He is more of a greyhound like Iosefo than a battering ram like Kereti.
Iosua is confident MAC will win at least one more of their remaining three games - against Tech, Tamatea and Hastings - to sidestep the promotion-relegation clash.
"We just have to keep giving it our best like we did at the weekend."
A staunch fan of former All Blacks midfielder Ma'a Nonu, Iosua ranked Napier Old Boys Marist centre Migao Lauano as the toughest player he has marked in the Bay.
"We lost 88-7 to NOBM the day I marked Migao. NOBM have to be the toughest team I've played against in the Bay too."
When he isn't working with MAC youngsters or training and playing Iosua is likely to be found watching movies or sport on television.
It's obvious he has the right balance between his rugby commitments and relaxation.
