The evening is put on by the Ruahine School Parents for Kids (PFK) fundraising committee and is the school's major fundraiser for the year.
Committee secretary Rachel Bowie says each year they try to focus on a major project that the school wants to complete.
"We usually raise about $6000 so it's well worth doing. We do smaller fundraisers as well, but this yearly event is our biggest."
Last year's amount went towards maintenance and a new filter for the school swimming pool.
This year's spend is still in discussion with staff, Bowie says, but the school netball courts need resurfacing "which will cost a lot of money", and students also need new tables and new kapa haka costumes.
The Stars in their Eyes evening will be at Te Rehunga Hall, Kumeti Rd, Dannevirke, 6.30pm on Saturday, June 9.
