The second book in the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy is written in Robert's usual humorous, romantic style.
There is a real place called BoonsBoro - the author and her husband renovated a hotel there, her son and husband own businesses there and her children were schooled there. So I guess you could say the story includes fact and fiction.
Based around the lives of the Montgomery brothers, Beckett, Owen and Ryder, and their mother, The Last Boyfriend is for the most part about Owen and Avery McTavish. They are childhood friends and Avery owns the pizza place across from the hotel.
Owen was Avery's first boyfriend and although they joke about it sometimes, Avery looks at Owen through far-from-innocent eyes.
When they finally decide to take their relationship a step further, Avery worries that, like in all her previous relationships, she will lose interest.
However, she doesn't count on Owen's loyalty and sheer determination to make her realise that he is the one for her.
The story also includes a wedding, a relationship between two of the older characters, the return of a mother ... oh, and a ghost. Easy reading with warm, caring and witty characters.Linda Hall
