Methamphetamine.

Methamphetamine.

Police following up suspicions about a car parked in a Hastings street found a man and women in the vehicle, with apparently recently made methamphetamine later estimated to have a street value of $70,000.

The details emerged yesterday as Hastings woman Jamie Boorsboom, 29, appeared in Hastings District Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing methamphetamine for supply and one of possessing the drug known as fantasy, stemming from the discovery early on the morning of March 31.

She also admitted using a stolen credit card to obtain about $600 worth of goods in a series of 16 transactions north of Auckland in February, and was remanded by Judge Bridget Mackintosh on bail to appear for sentence on July 15.

A police summary said police on patrol came across the near the intersection of Queen St East and Gray's Rd, with a man in the driver's seat and Boorsboom in the front passenger seat.

The registration plates did not match the vehicle, and Boorsboom was found to be wanted by police, who noticed a syringe in the footwell and searched the car under powers in the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The search uncovered about 70 grams of apparently recently manufactured pink crystalline methamphetamine, some in a bag containing 6.5mg and more in smaller amounts. Boorsboom also had a syringe containing fantasy.

Also found in the vehicle were a sawn-off semi-automatic shotgun with three cartridges beneath the driver's seat, two knives, and mobile phones and "multiple" SIM cards.

During a search at the police station, a bundle of $20 notes totalling $580 was found to have been concealed in the man's underwear.
