Spots of rain at the end of the week won't rain on the Tremains Art Deco Festival's parade, assures Art Deco Trust general manager Sally Jackson.

"We keep a very close eye on the weather," she said. "We get sent really detailed forecasts and Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking good."

She said they had been a bit nervous after news of the two cyclones heading to New Zealand, but organisers had their fingers crossed for typical, sunny Hawke's Bay days.

Spots of rain and northerly winds were expected for later this week, but Ms Jackson was positive they could expect big crowds no matter the weather.

"So many people travel a long way to get to Hawke's Bay for the festival, so they will come out regardless of the weather."

Metservice meteorologist Karl Loots said the week looked like it would stay warm, with northerly winds.

Today would have some morning cloud which would become fine and warm, with temperatures expected to reach the mid to high 20s.

Tomorrow would also be fine around the coastal areas, with some northerly winds picking up.

Cloudy periods might mar the first day of the festival, with northerlies getting stronger. Despite this, the day is expected to reach a high of 28C.

Strong winds were expected to continue into Thursday, with cloud cover and scattered rain expected about the region.

Mr Loots said there was no indication this would be heavy rainfall.

Friday was expected to have cloudy spots of rain in the morning, which would continue into the afternoon, but clear in time for evening festivities.
