Despite the humid heat and crowds estimated in excess of 30,000 packed into central Napier during the Tremains Art Deco Weekend St John Ambulance stand-by crews had a relatively quiet time.
"We treated nine patients for very minor things and three people were taken to hospital with medical issues - but nothing serious," St John Hawke's Bay acting districts operations manager Brendon Hutchinson said.
"It all seemed to go very well and for us that was a good result."
Mr Hutchinson said the sheer numbers of people and the 30C heat on Saturday and 26C on Sunday could have resulted in plenty of work for the officers stationed around the city but the callouts were minor.
Traditional end of February weather is being forecast for Hawke's Bay for the rest of this week, with some "spots" of rain and northeasterlies over the next two days, a southerly approaching up the coast for some rain about Thursday, reverting to northwesterlies and warmer weather in the mid-high 20s and continuing through the weekend, said Wellington-based MetService communications meteorologist John Law.
